Infection Control Solutions

According to government statistics, of the 90,000 deaths due to hospital-acquired infections (HAI) estimated to occur this year, as many as 5,000 will be directly related to construction and maintenance activities.
The Center for Disease Control considers construction-related infections a major problem in healthcare facilities, costing hospitals billions of dollars every year. In addition to the obvious risk to the safety of patients, visitors, and employees, improper construction procedures and poor documentation of work pose a serious risk of litigation, already a problem at many major medical centers.
With the challenges related to pending healthcare reform, medical facilities cannot afford additional costs and headaches caused by the spread of infection due to improper construction procedures.
As a result of collaboration with major healthcare institutions, ATG has developed comprehensive, web-based Infection Risk Management solution for management of risk associated with construction-related infection, with no on-site installation of software required.
This solution creates a highly structured approach to permit requests and the required construction precautions as defined by Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) personnel and based on the patient risk group in affected areas. In addition to all reporting and archiving of the permit and construction process (critical in case of litigation), the solution integrates with the CAD layouts of the floor plans, therefore allowing better management of construction activities.

All permit requests are reviewed along with the patient risk level in the affected area. Permits, along with the required construction precautionary procedures, are then issued and archived directly through a secure, web-based system.
CAD layouts give personnel a quick visual representation of area levels of
infection risk.
A variety of functions are available to better manage all aspects of the permitting process related to infection control.
In addition to managing the risk of infection related to construction-related activities, ATG’s Infectious Disease Management solution allows epidemiologists to visually track the locations of positive cultures reported by the microbiology lab. The solution is a web-based interface between the CAD files of floor plan layouts of the medical campus and the microbiology laboratory data. This will allow the systematic upload of positive cultures and their locations, that excludes any patient-specific information.
Infectious disease incident data is accessible in a point-and-click, realtime visual environment via 3D CAD layouts.
Reports provide a pre-defined list of data for problem areas, allowing for rapid analysis of trends in the spread of infections.
