Accurate space utilization information is crucial for effective management and planning of healthcare facilities. Accurate information on departmental square footage and the corresponding locations is a critical component of any hospital master plan project. Unfortunately, such information is either not available or not easily accessible to healthcare executives when needed.

Progressive healthcare organizations, including some of the largest not-for-profit systems, are experiencing a growing need to manage their real estate portfolio to yield income, usually through charge-backs, and to not just treat it as a cost center.
