Accuracy of floor plan layout and correspondingly the square footage allocated to federally sponsored research is required for proper calculations of “Indirect Costs,” as required by Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular A-21.
ATG professionals can conduct an on-site verification of as-built architectural layouts and space utilization of higher education campuses to develop this critical information. Utilizing its fully CAD-integrated Enterprise technologies, higher education campuses can access the square footage data for all research space which can then be used for calculating are the indirect costs associated with each research program. A recent study indicates that inaccuracies in space calculations can result in an overall reduction of up to 2 percent in Indirect Cost recovery at higher education facilities. This is a sizable amount considering the size of federally sponsored grants being in tens of millions of dollars on most major university campuses.
