Facility Condition Assessment

The term Facility Condition Assessment (FCA) is used to define a process in which a facility's utilities, architectural, and engineering infrastructures are surveyed and evaluated with the expressed purpose of identifying deficiencies and estimating the capital resources required to correct those deficiencies.

Unfortunately, most academic facilities that take such initiative lose the long-term benefits of their FCA analyses because of two primary reasons:

  1. The use of highly complex proprietary software packages that generate generic and consequently inaccurate numbers of little use to facility executives. Through the use of "indices analysis," they produce highly approximated financial analyses of no practical value.

  2. The inability of those software packages to allow integration with other facility-related functions.

ATG's approach is to start the process with an objective Facility Condition Assessment survey for the purpose of providing a meaningful and realistic picture of a facility's state.

After all the information has been collected and processed, it is then integrated into the Enterprise Active Visual System™, our highly intuitive web-based technology that is hosted directly by ATG. This allows campus facility and financial managers full access to a wide range of critical information without requiring any purchase of software or hardware.

Utilizing ATG's web technologies, this centralized facility information system can easily then be expanded to address other critical facility related functions including Space Management and Regulatory Compliance (e.g., ADA, Life Safety, etc.)
